The family is the closest setting in which an individual’s social relationships develop and where the child’s communication with their environment is established and progresses. Parents and family members have important roles in the child’s developmental process. An individual’s personality traits, personal characteristics, and relationships develop and take shape within the framework of family structure and dynamics, as well as in accordance with the child’s environmental boundaries. Today, these boundaries are expanding to a much wider sphere through technology. The life experiences, social skills, and achievements that an individual develops throughout life are rooted in the family and continue to develop and take shape within the broader social environment. However, especially in today’s era, where following and adapting to technological developments is essential, utilizing technology in a child’s education has become a very important element. Because technology not only simplifies daily life but also supports and facilitates learning, the effective use of technology and the digital world in education, as well as their influential presence in a child’s life, are now widely accepted (Erdoğdu et al., 2025).
The digital age has brought about significant changes and innovations in daily life. In the field of education, which prepares individuals for life, adapting to these changes and innovations has become essential. Care should therefore be taken to ensure that this transformation becomes a beneficial element contributing to the child’s development. Parents and teachers should provide children with a rich educational environment through productive and high-quality content, resources, and activities. Furthermore, the effectiveness and quality of education should be strengthened by supporting engaging learning experiences through digitalization. While education prepares individuals for life, it is important to benefit from the opportunities offered by the digital world by taking appropriate steps based on realistic, practical, and contemporary needs that will contribute to the individual’s future. Although technology and the internet open the doors of the digital world to children, parents and teachers should supervise the appropriate, responsible, and balanced use of digital products and online activities to ensure that children benefit from these opportunities in a healthy way. At this point, both teachers and parents should first be supported in terms of digital literacy, and their competencies in this area should be strengthened. Well-planned digital content and activities will facilitate effective intergenerational communication, enabling adults to guide children appropriately. In addition, children should receive proper guidance from adults in developing digital literacy skills and applying these competencies effectively in their daily lives (İnan, 2021).
In addition to cultural changes occurring within society, developments in technology are also transforming various aspects of education and schools, including their resources, structures, and competencies. Therefore, as education and technology continue to develop together, the expectations of parents, teachers, and students are likewise changing and increasing (Parlak, 2017).
With this ongoing transformation, maintaining children’s interest and attention both in school and at home has become increasingly challenging, while the need for educational activities enriched by digital technologies continues to grow. At this point, the competencies of both parents and teachers should be enhanced so that they can adapt to students’ learning pace and effectively capture and sustain their attention. Equipping schools and classrooms with the necessary technological infrastructure, while simultaneously developing digital literacy skills among students, teachers, and parents, contributes significantly to the goals of education. Moreover, it is essential for providing efficient and effective educational opportunities that meet the evolving expectations of both individuals and society.
