Life sometimes presents unexpectedly heavy challenges. Traumatic experiences are silent witnesses to such times. Many individuals carry not only the physical effects of trauma but also the deep emotional impacts of trauma it leaves behind. Yet every wound, given the right time and support, has the potential to heal. The science of psychology for trauma recovery offers methods to help individuals rise again after such difficult experiences (Tedeschi & Calhoun, 2004).
