I Came Here Naked

I came here naked. Alas! I have no shame!
Why do we dress up so much in our lives when we come into the world naked and die naked?
Why do we hide our true selves so much in daily life?
Don’t the masks we constantly wear, the roles we assume and the bodies we try to get into destroy the real me?
Are we trying to exist in order to disappear?

ARE YOU NAKED ENOUGH?

Just as nudity in daily life is a body that makes us uncomfortable and reflects everything with all its imperfections and flaws, so too in the nakedness of our self, all our imperfections and flaws can be seen. It makes visible the nakedness in our thoughts, in our gender, in society, in the place where we don’t fit, in the body we try to possess, in our scarred hearts and hands.
So can you show this? Or where have you been able to be your true self before?

Today, especially depression, asociality and anxiety disorders can be caused by the individual’s difficulty in being themselves. The individual tries to act by considering the appropriateness of their thoughts and behaviors to their environment. If they do not fit into the society, they can gain belonging with masks. These masks can be worn according to family, friends, spouse, workplace and social segment. At first, the individual may think that this makes life easier because being accepted and ‘being like everyone else’ can feel comfortable.

Although the comfort offers comfort to the individual, after a while, the real self becomes increasingly invisible with the masks. At this point, we encounter the following thoughts:
Do I want this or is this what I am being asked to do?
Is this my choice or am I accepting what is presented to me?
I don’t know what I want.

THE DISAPPEARANCE OF NAKEDNESS AND STIGMAS

Stigmas are society’s negative and stigmatizing judgments of a particular individual or group of individuals. They often result in discrimination, exclusion and prejudice. Such negative labeling limits individuals’ social relationships, undermines self-esteem and can also have profound effects on mental health and psychological resilience.

Stigmatization, especially around issues such as gender identity, mental health, advocacy, socioeconomic status and exclusion, prevents individuals from participating in society and seeking support.
In this regard, it may be the most important step to be able to see individual differences rather than relying on the beliefs of the majority.

Only then can the individual live with a naked self, without wearing masks, different bodies and clothes that make them uncomfortable. Or by accepting their own naked self; their own thoughts, their own clothes, their own weight, their own gender, their own socio-economic status…

So, do you think it is more important for you to accept yourself or for society to accept you?
When was the last time you accepted yourself as your naked self with all your pros and cons?

As Halsey says in her song:
Who’s in control?

SWOT ANALYSIS

SWOT Analysis is a technique that helps the individual to analyze the self and society in which he/she exists. It enables the individual to see himself/herself and his/her environment better.
There are 4 main headings in this technique and these headings are thought and filled by the individual.

  • S (Strengths) – Strengths: Advantages, competencies, resources that the individual has.

  • W (Weaknesses) – Weaknesses: Aspects that need to be improved, shortcomings or disadvantages.

  • O (Opportunities) – Opportunities: Possibilities in the external environment or within oneself that, when seized, can lead to success.

  • T (Threats) – Threats: Risks or threats from the external environment or within oneself that may hinder the individual.

As a result of the SWOT analysis, the individual can create a to-do list. It is important that the list starts with easily achievable goals that can be accomplished in a few days.
The biggest advantage of setting achievable goals is that it motivates the individual every time a step is taken. When the individual accomplishes the first goal on the to-do list within a week, he/she feels that he/she is getting closer to the big goal and this increases the reliability of the list.

It is also important that the big goals on the list can be realized as long as the small goals are followed.
In this way, the individual can more easily imagine achieving the big goals while moving towards the big and time-consuming goals.

Have you ever done SWOT before?
Are you ready to do it?
